The Bee’s Knees Business Club proudly hosted an inspiring International Women’s Day event, on the 8 March, in Leighton Buzzard, celebrating the powerful contributions of women in our community.
“The Impact of Women in Our Community” event brought together professionals, community leaders, and passionate individuals to recognise the achievements of women in our town. Attendees had the opportunity to hear firsthand stories of resilience, leadership, and positive community impact from local women.
“This event was a fantastic showcase of the strength, resilience, and achievements of women in our community,” said Chloe Peters, event organiser. “The enthusiasm and support we witnessed today reaffirm the importance of creating spaces where women’s voices are heard and valued.”
Local MP Alex Mayer, who attended on the day echoed this praise. She said:
“Congratulations to Chloe and the team for a great event celebrating Leighton Buzzard’s women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.
“As the first female MP for Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard constituency, I am pleased to see more women leading businesses and driving innovation in our area. Their success strengthens our local economy and inspires the next generation of businesswomen. Their achievements deserve to be recognised and celebrated.”
A heartfelt thank you goes to our stall holders, Leighton-Linslade Town Council for supporting the venue hire, and to Kate Marriott Design for the exclusive event branding. Special appreciation is extended to Leighton-Linslade Town Mayor, David Bligh and Colonel Leona Barr-Jones TD DL who also joined us in celebration.

We were delighted to be joined by students from Gilbert Inglefield and Mrs.Timberlake, who contributed to the discussions and added a fresh perspective on the role of young people in shaping the future of our community.
The event generated just over £280 for local not-for-profit organisations and was supported by some incredible stall holders who generously shared their experiences and wisdom, making the event truly impactful.
The Bee’s Knees Business Club looks forward to building on the success of this year’s celebration and continuing to foster a thriving, supportive community of women.
